How much does a contractor pay for a 3 ton Air Conditioner in Dallas?
Any idea how much a contractor in Dallas, Texas pays for a 3 Ton Goodman 13 SEER Air Conditioner?
You have to take into consideration what the contractor pays. He has to pay the employees, gas, insurance, taxes, equipment and I can go on and on.Things cost money these days.
The contractor also deals with the multiple price increases from the manufacturers. Plus with the new 13 seer minimum, didn’t help. There is a lot that goes into it. Try walking in our shoes for a while. This is more into response to the first answer you received.
To answer your questions, it depends on the contractor and the pricing they were given from there rep at Goodman.
I would quote you $ 2,165.00 to install a 3 ton, 13 seer Goodman Condensing Unit and $ 1,175.00 to install the Evap Coil. This covers parts and Labor.
I bought a Goodman 16 seer on e-bay for $1,200 with shipping and all. Included the outside unit 25′ of the two cooper tubes and the inside coil. Buddy of mine works HVAC and he hooked it all up and I gave him $100 for 3 hours at my house.
All other quotes I got were over $3,000! ! ! !
But I am in TN

3 ton 14 seer condensing unit and indoor evaporator copil cost the contractor about 1,500 for high quality equipment. To sale it to you and he install it it will cost you about 3,000

if they paid more than $1100 complete then they paid too much. Installation labor is where the contractor really rakes you. Always find your product first, price it total, then call the contractor to get the installation quote.

Goodman equipment is cheap junk anyway. I agree with poster #3 on price. However, if you need duct work, wiring, condensate drain, breakers, piping, and labor, permits, and god knows what else, expect the contractor’s price, who pays for his own overhead mind you to be more than what some jack leg will sell to you on ebay.
